Initiated last year in commemoration of Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas [Ladakh] – In commemoration of the Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Oceanic Divas proudly announces the launch of the "Zara Yaad Karo Kurbani '' initiative. This program pays tribute to the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War, with a heartfelt wish for peace and the sweet remembrance of the fallen heroes.

Oceanic Divas' Kargil Visit Inspires Initiative to Honor Fallen Soldiers

In a heartfelt tribute to India's bravehearts, Oceanic Divas has launched an initiative to plant 527 seedlings, representing each soldier who made supreme sacrifice in the Kargil War. This poignant endeavor was inspired by the team's recent visit to Kargil and Drass War Memorial, which left an indelible mark on their hearts.

During visit to Kargil Oceanic Divas  Founder Varsha Rajkhowa along with her father who is an Ex Air Force Officer Wg Cdr Atul Chandra Rajkhowa and some locals planted few seedlings near Kargil airport and also did a Himalayan Clean Up Drive which was an initiative by an NGO of Ladakh and this drive was in Drass near Kargil War Memorial on the 5th of June 2024. These activities familiarised Ms Varsha with the terrain and also brought her closer to the stories of the fallen soldiers. The experience was a profound reminder of the sacrifices made by India's heroes and their families. This visit and the plantation they started near Kargil airport sparked the idea to take this plantation drive nationwide and make people aware about the importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas and the valuable sacrifice our fallen heroes made for the nation.

Following a successful small plantation near the Kargil airport, Oceanic Divas decided to expand the effort nationwide, aiming to plant 527 seedlings - each representing a soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice. The goal for this year is to plant over 20,000 seedlings under this initiative.

Through "Zara Yaad Karo Kurbani," Oceanic Divas aims to keep the memories of the fallen heroes alive and ensure their sacrifices are cherished and never forgotten. The drive has already been successfully executed in Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Delhi and its surrounding areas, and Goalpara (Assam). Supported by the Forest Department and veteran volunteers across India, the plantation drive will soon reach Jaipur, Gwalior, Bhubaneswar, Pune, and other cities.

Each tree planted stands as a testimony to the bravery and sacrifice of these heroes, ensuring that their legacy lives on in the hearts of the nation forever.

Oceanic Divas invites everyone to join in this noble endeavor and honor the memory of those who fought valiantly for the motherland during the Kargil War of 1999. May all find solace in their noble sacrifice.
